          A new generation of lithium batteries was designed by using copper selenide nanoclusters

             According to physics website reported that the electronic devices become smaller and more powerful, is the need for faster, smaller and more stable battery, at present, the United States University of Illinois chemists have developed a new solid super ionic conductor, the design will become the basis for a new generation of lithium battery.
             A research report published in the journal Nature "communication" in the near future, University of Illinois professor of chemistry at Pula Santak Jain (PrashantJain), graduate student Sara White (SarahWhite) and general Gena - Banerjee (PrognaBanerjee) describes the material - micro copper selenide nanoclusters.
             Jain pointed out that at present we have witnessed a rapid development of nano electronic devices, we need a miniature battery placed in the chip, but the use of liquid electrolyte can not be achieved, we use the core features of nano structure material of lithium ion battery technology, they have a lot of heat and mechanical stability, there is no leakage problem, we can manufacture the electrolyte layer very thin, so we can make the battery miniaturization.
             Standard lithium ion battery and the other is filled with liquid electrolyte, lithium ions can move through in which, when the battery is used, ions toward a direction of flow, when the battery is in the opposite direction toward the flow. However, there are some defects in the liquid electrolyte: with the cycle of the battery used in the degradation process, the battery needs a larger volume, and easy to leak and highly flammable. This will lead to the explosion of mobile phones, laptops and other electronic devices, but the solid electrolyte is more stable, the ions move more slowly, greatly reducing the effectiveness of battery applications.
             Copper selenide nanoclusters combine the advantages of liquid and solid electrolytes: the stability of the solid, the ion can move freely in a liquid electrolyte. Copper selenide is considered to be a super ionic conductor at high temperature, but this kind of micro cluster is the first time to prove that it is a super ionic conductor at room temperature.
